Vignobles Lascaux - Awards, medals and publications, our rewards
Who are we ?
Owner harvesting since 1920, Vignobles Lascaux is made up of 2 family properties.
Château Lascaux in the Bordeaux appellation established on the highest point of the commune of Saint Martin du Bois in Libournais. Château Tour Bel-Air in the Fronsac appellation, located in the town of Saillans.
It was in 1998 that Fabrice Lascaux took over, with his wife Sylvie, his father's estate, which then consisted of 4 hectares of vines.
Since then, 13 hectares have been planted and 6 have been acquired. In 2007, in order to diversify their range of wines, Fabrice and Sylvie took over the exploitation of the 10 hectares of Château Tour Bel-Air in the Fronsac appellation previously belonging to Sylvie's parents.
Today the vineyard has a total of 33 hectares in the Bordeaux and Fronsac appellation and offers a range of wines representative of Bordeaux, composed of red, white, rosé, clairet and crémant wines.
In 2020, we began our ecological transition by obtaining High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 certification.
Our Land
In a dominant position on a sunny ridge, the soil of our vineyard offers an ideal mix of gravel, clay, limestone and sand, which fully contributes to the structure and elegance of our wines. In addition, more than 80% of our vines are planted on sloping clay-limestone hillsides, which allows it to benefit from both natural drainage and better exposure to the sun.
In our 33ha of vines, the distribution of grape varieties is as follows: Red grape varietyon 30 ha (Merlot: 80% | Cabernet Sauvignon: 13.5% | Cabernet Franc: 6.5%). White grape varietyon 3 ha (Sauvignon Gris: 61% | Sauvignon Blanc: 32% | Muscadelle: 7%).
Sensitive to the protection of this exceptional terroir, we apply a “reasoned” cultivation method, limiting chemical interventions as much as possible. We also opted for grass between each plot of vines. This helps prevent soil leaching through runoff and thus promotes the development of biodiversity (insects, nematodes, etc.).
